US President Donald Trump on Tuesday extended warm birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of his 75th birthday, while also expressing gratitude for India’s support in efforts to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump shared details of the phone conversation, calling PM Modi a “friend” and praising his leadership.

“Just had a wonderful phone call with my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I wished him a very Happy Birthday! He is doing a tremendous job. Narendra: Thank you for your support on ending the War between Russia and Ukraine! President DJT,” Trump wrote.

Responding shortly after, PM Modi thanked the US President for his wishes and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Partnership. In a post on X, the Prime Minister echoed Trump’s emphasis on peace, saying that India supported initiatives toward a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.

“Thank you, my friend, President Trump, for your phone call and warm greetings on my 75th birthday. Like you, I am also fully committed to taking the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights. We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict,” PM Modi wrote.

The exchange of greetings coincided with high-level bilateral discussions in New Delhi, where US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch held talks with Ministry of Commerce and Industry Special Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. Both sides agreed to intensify efforts for an early conclusion of a mutually beneficial India-US Trade Agreement.

According to a statement from the Commerce Ministry, Lynch, who is the Chief Negotiator for the India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement, led a delegation of officials from the Office of the United States Trade Representative during the September 16 visit. Discussions focused on deepening trade ties and advancing negotiations toward a comprehensive agreement.
